What are Handcrafted Botanical Formulas?

Handcrafted Botanical Formulas are herbal blends developed by Dr Robert Morse, the naturopath behind the original Dr Morse’s Healing Herbs. They follow the same body system approach. Rather than targeting a single symptom, each formula is designed to support one area, such as the bowels, kidneys, lymphatic system, blood or adrenal glands.

Where an original Healing Herbs formula has been discontinued, Handcrafted often carries the equivalent, so some familiar names have changed. Formulas come as alcohol tinctures, alcohol-free glycerin extracts, capsules and topical salves, and several systems are offered in numbered levels from gentle to strong.

Several Healing Herbs formulas have been discontinued. Find your usual formula on the left to see its closest Handcrafted equivalent. Equivalents share the same intent, but the blends are not always identical, so check the label or ask our naturopath if you are unsure.

Understanding the levels

Some systems come in numbered levels. Level 1 is the gentlest and each step up is stronger. Most people start at the lowest level and only move up with guidance. The Bowels range is shown below.

#4 Strong Strongest. Formerly Bowels Shove. Shop Strong #4

Also in levels: Kidneys, Level 1 to 4 (formerly Urinary) and Lymph, Level 1 to 5.

Tinctures vs capsules vs glycerin vs salves

Each formula is the same blend whichever way you take it. The difference is how it tastes, how it fits your day and how you use it.

Glycerin	Anyone avoiding alcohol	Alcohol free and naturally sweet.

Tinctures and glycerins are the same price, so choose on taste and lifestyle rather than cost. Capsules suit people who travel or dislike the taste of herbs.

Both ranges come from Dr Robert Morse and follow the same body system approach. Handcrafted is the newer range and replaces several discontinued Healing Herbs formulas, some under new names. Use the equivalents table in our buying guide to find your match.

Check the “Moving from Dr Morse’s Healing Herbs?” table in our buying guide. For example, GI Super Mover is now Bowels Strong #4 and GI Moderate Mover is now Bowels Push #3. If your formula isn’t listed, our naturopath can match it for you.

Some systems, such as Bowels, Kidneys and Lymph, come in numbered levels. Level 1 is the gentlest, and each level up offers stronger support for the same system.

Most people start at Level 1 and only move up with guidance. If you are moving from a Healing Herbs formula, start with its listed equivalent instead.
