About our Ceremonial Cacao

Our Ceremonial Cacao is whole cacao, made from heirloom Criollo beans and nothing else. No sugar, no fillers, no added flavours. The beans are never roasted, and every bag is prepared and packed by hand in Western Australia, with no heat treatment or machine processing.

Whisk it into hot water or milk for a thick, velvety cup with a gentle bitterness and a natural sweetness. It is the cacao our partner cafes pour for their regulars, and many people make it part of a slow morning ritual.

Theobroma cacao. Food of the gods.

Where it comes from

Satipo · Peru

Our cacao is grown in the rich forest soils of Satipo, in Peru’s Amazon region, and ethically sourced from the Ashaninka community, who have cared for this land and its cacao trees for generations. Criollo is a rare heirloom variety, known for its smooth, rounded flavour and gentle bitterness.

Ceremonial Cacao FAQs

Ceremonial cacao is whole cacao, ground from the bean with nothing removed. It keeps its natural cacao butter, so it makes a thick, rich drink. Ours is heirloom Criollo, raw and unroasted.

Both are the same heirloom Criollo cacao. Chunky comes in rustic pieces you chop or grate, while Prepared [is ready to whisk straight into your cup].

Around [25g] per 250ml of water or milk is a good starting point. Start with less if you are new to cacao and adjust to taste.

Cacao naturally contains theobromine and a small amount of caffeine. Many people find it a gentler lift than coffee, but if you are sensitive to stimulants, start with a smaller serve.

Our 60g sample is a simple way to try it. The 250g, 500g and 1kg bags suit regular drinkers, and the 5kg slab is our bulk option.

Keep it sealed in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Check the best before date on your pack.

Yes. Grate or chop it into smoothies, desserts and baking. It is unsweetened, so you may want to add a little sweetness.
