Native to south-east Queensland, this Australian grown and processed essential oil has a fresh-smelling aroma with a complex lemon scent that gives way to a smoky bush flavour. Lemon myrtle contains the highest natural source of citral and need only be used sparingly in moisturisers, shampoos, cleaners, insect repellents and culinary blends.

Aroma: A strong top note. Use sparingly to avoid overpowering.  Universally pleasant.

Perfume: Clean, sweet and uplifting yet complex lemon scent that is rich and smooth.

Blends well with: woods, spices and florals. Try cedarwood atlantica, geranium bourbon, ylang ylang, cinnamon, pimento or myrrh. Works well with Australian woods such as eucalyptus, niaouli, sandalwood and tea tree. Not suited with other citrus oils.

Precautions: high in citral, a strong sensitiser. Avoid use on broken skin. Avoid use during pregnancy. Maximum dilution for topical application 1 per cent. Contraindication for diabetic medications.
