Citrus aurantium

Petitgrain essential oil is made from the same tree that makes the delicate neroli (orange blossom) and bitter orange (fruit rind) essential oils. Despite being from the same tree, this citrus does carry its own unique aroma in perfumery. It tones the skin and balances oiliness and is often used in skin and hair care products. It makes a fine deodorant, reduces excess sweating and clamminess. Calming and relaxing on the gut and relaxes tissues in the body. Clears the breath, calms tension and worry. Helps in convalescence. Usually made from the leaves and twigs of the tree, Tinderbox petitgrain is a premium extraction from the leaves and immature fruits – less commonly used as it interferes with production of the bitter orange essential oil.

Aroma: Middle Note.

Perfume: A pleasant, green, slightly tangy scent with faint floral top notes and woody undertones.

Blends well with: all citrus oils, bergamot, cedarwood, cardamom, clary-sage, geranium, jasmine, sandalwood and ylang ylang.
